Jake Tripp dove from a few hundred feet in the air, almost straight down. He got to a few feet above the gassy Pitch and pulled up, making a right angle. This wouldn't have been all that hard...if he hadn't been standing up, following a Snitch, and being chased by a Bludger. He leaned forward, barely staying on his broom, and caught the Snitch he had been pursuing. Yes, he was a Chaser for Puddlemere, but he decided to try to catch a Snitch again and found he still could.
Now the only problem left was the Bludger. Jake glanced over his left shoulder and didn't see it. Maybe it flew off... he thought doubtfully. He turned his head to the right and saw a flash of brown fling toward him. Grabbing the broom with one hand and hooking his foot around it, he dropped halfway off of it, actually brushing the grass with his fingertips, he was so close to the ground. The Bludger rocketed past him and he climbed back up.

"Darnnit,"Natalie voice floated lightly from behind Jake. The redhead swung her legs around the side of the broom. She placed the large Beater's bat on her lap, gingerly. " I thought it was gonna hit,"she chuckled, softly. Her broom hovered next to his. "Guess those practices with Lily really do pay off,"she added. She raised her hand over her eyes, searching for the Bludger. Sighing, Natalie dropped her hand again and turned to face Jake.

"Nice to know that there's more than one crazy witch on a broom that I need to watch out for..." Jake responded, also looking for the Bludger. "What are you doing out here?" he asked, looking back at Natalie. The weather was pretty cool, not freezing, but pretty close. It was a little bit above 40 degrees, but sunny, and thus Jake was wearing a heavy jacket, and sun glasses, half to keep the sun out of his eyes, and half to block the wind. "Or did you just come to see the next MVP practice?" he added jokingly.

"As if,"scoffed Natalie. She picked up her bat and threw it up in the air, catching it as it fell. "Is it such a crime to just go to a Quidditch Pitch and knock a few measley balls around?"she asked sweetly, flashing him an innocent look. She looked around and raised an eyebrow. "Is it really that cold?"Natalie asked. She had warmed up a half an hour earlier and was considerably warm. The denim sweater she had worn was tied around her waist. The bottom of her jeans flapped lazily in the wind. Natalie straightened the light blue T-shirt she was wearing, brushing it lightly.

"It is when you dive three hundred feet and the wind cuts right through you...you would think I would be immune to wind chill, but no..." Jake trailed off. "It is a crime if you're just looking for an excuse to be around your boyfriend," Jake smirked jokingly. He lifted his sunglasses off his eyes and stuck them onto the top of his head. Shivering, he glanced around for the Bludger again. "Why is it that during the summer, you can think of a million heating spells whenever you want, and then in winter, all you can think of is Glacius?" he asked, not to Natalie directly but just to no one in particular.

Natalie rolled her eyes and pushed him gently on the shoulder. "In your dreams,"she stuck out her tongue. "Besides, I see you everyday. (Are they living together or no?) I don't need an excuse to see you. Blydgers on the other hand,"she sighed, shaking her head. "Gran's banned me from even touching a bat. So what if Uncle Prat had to go to St. Mungo's because he lost a little bit of blood. It's not MY fault his broom wasn't fast and couldn't even manage to miss four Bludgers heading his way,"she scowled. "If you'd like, I'd be happy to warm you up a bit,"she offered, a smirk tugging at the edge of her lips.

//Uh, I guess they are...*shrugs* Whatever you want.//
Jake leaned back on his broom as she pused him, but remained standing. "It's too bad you don't listen to her, I might be able to play Quidditch in peace," he said with a dramatic sigh, which was cut short as he shivered again. Smirking, he added, "I don't know, you might set me on fire or something," he said, acting as if he thought she meant using a spell.
//Sorry it's short...//

Her eyes narrowed at his comment. "Hey,buddy,"she said icily. "Other professional beater's bludger balls look tame compared to mine." A smirk slid across her face. "I'm just helping you train for the World Cup!"she added, throwing her bat in the air and catching it as it fell.
Natalie raised an eyebrow. "Honey, I'm not that bad of a witch. I won't set you on fire. On the other hand-"she hesitated, eyeing his broom. "Your broom's a different story,"she laughed softly. "But I wasn't talking about spells anyways,"Natalie grinned.
((Haha.. It's not biggie. ))

//OK, then we'll just say they are...//
"You should join Puddlemere," Jake said seriously. Our Beaters aren't exactly the best in the league. I'm more afraid of Bludgers when they are playing on my team then when they aren't..." he added, rolling his eyes.
Jake glanced down at his broom, wondering if it would be smart to cast a fire-protective charm on it. He looked back at Natalie. "Really? I had no idea...what were you talking about then?" he asked, smirking again.

Natalie blinked several times before her mind could process what Jake had said. "You're joking,"she started to giggle. "There's no way I'm joining the team,"she paused. "I mean. As much as I'd love to,"she amended,"I can't. The whole no relationships with your co-worker thing applies here doesn't it? So it's pretty much a moot point. But,"she hesitated for a moment, choosing her words carefully. "I could play as a sub from time to time if any of your beaters met with an....unfortunate accident." The smirk on her face widened. "But then again, Lily would see through that and would slaughter me like no other,"she shrugged. "I guess it'd be worth it though,"she looked wistfully around the pitch. "I miss playing real Quidditch,"Natalie sighed.
"Well,"her expression changed. A playful smile on her lips. "I was thinking about knocking a few Bludgers at you. That should make you fly faster and get your adrennaline pumpin'. Then you'd be warmer. OR I'd knock you in the head and you'd have to be carted off to St. Mungo's. But,"she smirked,"did you have something else in mind? I'm open to any other alternative."

Jake sighed. "I hate that rule," he murmured. "And yeah, Lily is pretty experienced in the slaughtering area...and you wonder why I practice so much? If I don't I'll never play Quidditch professionally again...and it won't be because she fired me..." he added.
He smirked and said, "Well...I think it would get pretty warm if I were to show a certain red-head what its like to crash into a goalpost..." he trailed off, drifting toward Natalie at a steady pace.

"I wouldn't be surprised,"she nodded. "But, if it's any consolation. I'd try to avenge your death,"she added, brightly. Natalie's eyes narrowed as she sent a basilisk glare in Jake's direction. "You wouldn't dare,"she hissed. She swung her other leg over her broom and clutched the handle of her broom tightly.

"Well, that makes me feel loads better," Jake said with a laugh. "It's the thought that counts, I guess..." he rolled his eyes.
"My nickname for seven years of Hogwarts included the words 'death wish'. You think I wouldn't dare?" Jake asked, smirking widely and lowering the sun glasses back over his eyes. "That...and I was in Gryffindor," he added as he rocketed toward her without warning.

Natalie's eyes widened in surprise, but she reacted quickly. She leaned down on her broomstick, making a nosedive for the grass below. At the last minute, she turned back up into the air. The end of her broom dragged softly on the tips of the grass. Natalie turned around on her broom and stuck out her tongue again. "Catch me if you can,"she jeered, flying past Jake and gave him a peck on the cheek before flying off.

Jake turned back to where Natalie nose dived and started to make another 180 degree turn as she came back, but decided against it and simply flew backwards on his broom after her. He was quickly right behind the red-head and laughed. "That's all you've got, Weasley?"

"Barely,"she was grinning from ear to ear. "I'm just giving you a chance to warm up,"Natalie laughed. Her legs and arms tensed as she clutched the broom tighter and made a sharp right turn, away from the large oak tree. She made several loops in the air as she scanned the pitch looking for a certain thing in particular. "Come on, come on,"she mumbled, under her breath, now diving towards the ground again.

Jake turned the broom toward her, now facing forward, and followed. Laughing, he quickly caught up again, using a few tricks Lily had taught the team on how to gain that extra few seconds. "Sure you are...you're so cute when you think you're winning," Jake said with a slight laugh, knowing fully well that Nats was never done trying. And she was unpredictable...this could be harder than he thought.

Natalie felt her cheeks burn as she blushed. "Aaw. You know compliments don't work on me when it comes to Quidditch, love,"she smirked. She pulled out a bright red ribbon and quickly tied her auburn hair up. "Are you warmed up yet?"Natalie asked with a hint of sarcasm. She peered out from the corner of her eye and her eyes lit up. A smile slid across her face.

"Darn..." Jake said sarcastically, smiling. As she asked if he was warmed up yet, he responded, "Maybe..." and did a small barrel roll on his broom. "Why, does it get harder? I hope so, otherwise I take back my request for you to join Puddlemere," he added jokingly. Speeding up a bit, he pulled up along side her, reaching an arm out to try to grab her broom.

"Ha ha,"she grumbled, sarcastically. "Very funny. But yes, I'd expect it does get a little bit harder. Don't worry,"Natalie gripped the handle of her broom tightly and leaned forward. "I'll go easy on you. No need to be scared,"she grinned, flying rapidly past Jake. The flying Bludger hurled rapidly in Jake's direction a few seconds after she had flown away.

Jake smirked as he saw the Bludger coming and did a half-backflip, stopping upside and pointed at Natalie. He pushed his feet into the handles on his broom and took off after her, still upside down. Nodding away the feeling of vertigo, Jake shouted, "You're gonna have to work harder than that, Weasley!" and laughed loudly.

"I said I was going easy on you, didn't I?"laughed Natalie, making another sharp turn around one of the goal posts. "Ah ha!"she grinned, accelerating towards the large oak tree. Natalie dropped down onto her broom and went straight into the leaves of the tree, easily maneuvering her way out of the direction of the branches.

Jake rolled his eyes, although it was impossible to see through his sun glasses. He went around the tree and followed her as she came out. "If you're going to do something hard, at least make it something I can't just avoid..." he said, smirking, as he continued to chase after her. The wind blew softly with him, seeming to change direction as he did.

"I wasn't saying I went through that tree just so I could lose you,"Natalie smirked, looking behind her as she did so. She suddenly dove down towards the grass again. The top of her shoes dragged across the grass as she skidded towards the ground. Without a warning, Natalie shot up into the air again and disappeared behind the oak tree.

"Huh?" Jake asked, frowning as he watched her carefully. As she disappeared, Jake slowed down a bit, wondering what was going to happen, but shrugged off the feeling of walking flying into a trap and followed Natalie behind the oak tree.
//By the way, why is there a tree in a Quidditch Pitch?//
