//Any Aurors...//
Brent sat at his desk, downing his third cup of coffee. It didn't seem to be helping him wake up. Another night of no sleep was not helping his career... He poured himself another cup, sighing. He was the only one in the HQ as far as he knew...everyone else was at meeting, on errands, or on missions. Thankfully, he didn't have anything to do but paperwork, which was impossible anyway.
As Brent started to pour his fourth cup, he took a look at the label. Decaf. With a low growl, he vanished the coffee and the cup and put his head on the table. Darkness started to close around him, and he quickly fell asleep...
//Who wants to wake him up?//

"Agent Tripp? I thought lazing around on the job was only for Flahtery?" Desdemona Silver, Second in Command, was standing in her usual blue attire and using an especially sarcastic tone as she shook Tripp. Dess was expecting her own cup of decaf (Caffeine made her burp too much and that was un-civilized) but when she finally got back from discussions with the newly forming American WBI (Wizarding Bureau of Investigation) about the status about Case 1257, and now she was having to put up with Tripp on top of everything else. "Tripp, wake the Hell up before you find something very unpleasant in your next job. Maybe some more of those acid-spewing slugs?" She shook him again and waite dfor James, maybe he could wake Tripp up.

James smirked as he walked up behind Dess. He was in his usual pure black robes, with the Auror symbol over the right breast area, and a black outfit under the robes. Black dress pants, a long sleeve collared shirt and black dress shoes. The only messy thing about his appearance was his hair, and that was because not matter how hard he tried, his dark mahogany hair would just not lie down. His emerald green eyes sparkled with un-shed laughter as he held up one finger to Dess to signal to hold on a minute. He walked over and was close to Brent’s ear when he yelled, “BRENT! GET UP! KAT’S HAVE THE QUADS!” It was the same exact thing he had yelled when Kat had flooed him 6 and a half years ago when all the kids were born. Brent has been sleeping after a 4 day non-sleeping mission….but DAMN he jumped high when he yelled that, and James backed up a bit waiting for his reaction this time…sleep had a tendency to mess with ones mind ANYWAYS.

Brent jumped out of the chair, fell backward and scrambled up, "TO ST. MUNGO'S! KAT!" he yelled, tripping over the chair and landing on his back, staring up. "James, why the hell are you in our living room and where-oh." He stood up and brushed himself off. "I'm OK," he said, standing and saluting to the wall before turning around and then saluting James for real. "I was just, uh, examining the woodwork in the desk..." and realizing that James wouldn't buy that, added, "I mean, I was just trying to predict the next move of the criminal wizards using a new form of Legilimency through subconscious states of mind..." he said, trying to make up a bunch of big words.

Dess cleared her throat to let Brent know that she was in the room as well. "You have to teach me that trick, Sir." She still found pain in saying 'Sir' considering that James was someone she had known in school. She was only a few years, two at most, his minor. "I doubt it'd work with Flahtery, though," she mused, wiping a wrinkle in her light blue blouse away with her left hand while checking her water bottle with her right. It was still there and ready. She did another tug of her blue shirt (With matching cloak and dress pants, of course) and felt content. "Now, back to proper business." Dess loved to say those words. They were so . . . Formal. Fresh. Perfect. "I brought back the case file for the special case 1257, along with the new related cases 1257B and C which is based on the supposed accomplices, 'Bella' and a young American actress. I left them on Flahtery's desk. Any thing else? Tripp? Mr. Potter, sir?"

James smiled, “Actually Dess…I believe you have done great….which brings us to the next order of business…I’m not head of the Auror department anymore.” He said simply, nodding his head and looking at both of them waiting for a reaction. No one aside from the people who made the ballot for the Minister election knew that he had been nominated for new Minister…and because of pesky family members was actually ON the ballot. When he had gone to decline the nomination…they had informed him that he had already been added, and that his family had flooed and confirmed that he wanted to accept. He had been in shock over the past half hour after finding out and had decided that Dess, Brent…and Flaherty should be the first ones to know…as of the moment…he was no longer head of the department. Actually…he wasn’t even an Auror as they wanted James to stay at home unless doing something for the campaign…after the last ministers death they didn’t want to take any chances.

"They fired you?!" Brent asked, amazed. He sat back down, reaching for the coffee...only to realize it was gone. "Why is it that whenever you don't need coffee, it's there, and whenever you do, it's not?" he muttered distractedly before looking back to James. Then, the realization struck. "Wait...you're not...you are..." he said, using his fingers to point and draw as if doing a math equation. "You're the Minister?" he asked slowly.

Dess' jaw dropped and she cleared her throat again. It had a sound that reminded people of gurgling water. Her already grey-ish skin turned pale as she finally said, "Sir? Do you think this is the best of moves considering?" She thought her next words out before continuing, "I'm just saying sir, if you want me to show you the newest reports. . . Well, I'd suggest hiring body guards. I'll assign Tripp and Gresh to be your bodyguards if you like?" She looked at him with a determined lip and considered what he was taking on. If he was Minister. . . . . . . Her blue eyes widened as it finally set in. If he wasn't Head. The Second in Command stepped up. The second in command was. . Whoa. Her eyes flickered to James questioningly.

James chuckled, “No, I’m not the Minister…yet at least. It seems someone nominated me, as I was head of the department and figured I would be a good candidate. I was going to polite fully decline, but it seems as if some intrusive family members decided that I would not have a choice in the matter and accepted for me.” James said with a shrug, there was nothing he could do now except wait until the actual election. “There are a few other candidates running so hopefully one of them will get it and I can return here.” He said with a smile, “BUT!” He said clapping his hands together, “Until said time, Dess is in charge as Second in Command…and if I am elected Minister then Dess will be Head Auror.” He said, looking at both of them, “So…any questions?”

"Yeah...could you magic up some coffee, WITH caffeine?" Brent asked, perking up after having have been drooping in the chair. "I would, but...the last time I tried, it didn't end so well. Which reminds me, Dess, you might want to open your file folders carefully..." he added, changing his view from James to Dess, and then back again as he rested his head on his hand.

She smiled, feeling the sudden rush of power that came with Head. She briefly imagined whipping Flahtery with a taffy whip, but that thought left quickly because she felt it was inappropriate. "Sir, I'll just send those files to your home. . . . . " She supposed it would be better to let James handle this at his own house. He probably didn't want to read his girlfriend's case file, though only with the minor bits of info he may actually want to know. For example, the American WBI had a record of Daisine Daine 'Daisy' Adair (Maiden Name, according to them, Browning) booking a flight for two. Only one of the seats was used on the flight and Daisy was seen the next afternoon at her one-woman play. The seat, according to witnesses questioned with potion, was filled with a young girl with violet eyes carrying a big book and looked around a lot. "Agent Tripp, please remove any creatures, charms, or jinxes that may be placed on my file cabinet immediately please." She nodded at him, a bit of annoyance in her tone.

“Unfortunately…that can not be the case…I’m no longer an Auror…actually…I’m not an employee of the Ministry…so I can not even look at the filed.” James said rubbing his hands together…he was abnormally calm about all this. “And sorry Brent…can’t do that…but uh…do tell Kat to floo me later…I need to speak with her.” He said nodding his head. “So…ummm….yeah….you know….I think….I’m just gonna head home now…I have….stuff…” He said, totally distracted now, “Don’t burn the office down Dess.”

"You know, you don't really have to be a member of the Ministry to magic up some coffee..." Brent murmured dejectedly after a second. "And Dess, there's nothing like that...just...some coffee..." he said, smiling innocently and shrugging. "I'll clean it up if someone can wake me up...WITH COFFEE!" he added quickly before either of them could get any...other ideas.

Dess shrugged. "The best I can do is water, Brent, you know that." She bit her lip and stared at Mr. Potter (old habits die hard) for a good three seconds before finally deciding to let iot go. If anything bad happened, he could handle it. The old Minister was only a bit un-careful. He had no idea anyone was after him or that he could ever be put in any harm. James knew better. "But, I can send one of the Rookie Agents to go to the store to buy some coffee, if that will suffice," she said, begining to write a list of different flavored coffees. Dess personally prefered the Decaf with some of that expensive Coffee Mate creamer. . . . .

Brent perked up immediately and nodded. "Tell them...regular coffee, a few tea spoons of sugar...and any other thing that might wake someone up in the morning..." he said, rattling on and on as if his career depended on it...which it probably did. Sleeping during an Auror mission would not make James...er...Dess happy.
"So James...what exactly are you going to be doing before the election?" he asked, turning to look at him.

“I’m going to be spending time with my family…which makes my parents happy. Helping Kat stay alive as Lily seems ready to kill her, older sister or not. And taking some time for myself. There’s not much I can do. I have to stay in populated places or in my apartment so…” James trailed off with a shrug before clapping his hands again, “So…I’m gonna be off. Brent, I’ll see you sometime during the next few weeks I’m guessing. Dess…I know you’ll do great, good luck with Andrew, and hopefully I’ll see you both in a few weeks.” He said with a smile.

She nodded. "Right, stay in populated places at all costs, we don't want to have another front page Minister story not that anything bad will happen, of course." She fumbled over her words for a while there before jotting down Brent's request and handing it off to a random agent before looking back at the two.

"I take it you don't want any bodyguards, right?" Brent asked. He knew the answer, at least what he thought would be the answer. It was the same as his would be: no. Definitely not. He didn't understand how people could live with four guys in black suits following them around everywhere, treating every little thing with suspicion. "Why's Lily trying to kill Kat?" he added casually. Was he worried? No. Amused? Very.

"No, no guards please." James said shaking his head, "And because Kat is forcing Lily to go to the Quidditch Award Ceremony in a dress." He said with a chuckle at the thought. "But yeah, ok...soooo....bye." He said waving to both of them before leaving and apperating at the apperation point.

"Buh-bye, have fun on your NICE, LONG, FUN, VACATION!" Brent yelled after him before thinking about what he had said. Lily...dress..."Did he just say Lily was going to the Awards in a dress?" he asked Dess. The thought was almost unbelievable. No wonder she wanted to kill Kat. He might, if she tried to get HIM to go in a dress...
