Natalie shook her head as the movie began. "Man, that took forever,"she grumbled under her breath. She leaned against the armrest of the couch opposite from Jake's direction. She blinked several times and tried to avoid glancing at him, every so often. After a few minutes of silence, Natalie looked up. "You're being unnaturally quiet,"she commented.

Jake looked at Natalie, into her brown eyes. "I am?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. "I didn't notice..." he added casually. Commercials came on. He didn't even notice. It had hurt when she leaned away from him. She hadn't exactly been subtle about it, and he had simply leaned back on the couch. Now he was still looking at Nats. Eventually he tore his gaze away and looked back at the TV. Still commercials. "How many of these are there?" he asked to no one in particular.

Natalie felt her face flush red as he stared at her. She sighed as he turned away and returned to her position on the opposite side of the couch. Her elbow was propped on the arm of the couch while her other hand drummed on the remote repeatedly. "No idea,"Natalie replied, curtly.

Elf came back on. Jake watched 'intently'. He really didn't take in the film. Out of the corner of his eye, he was watching Natalie intently. She really wasn't making this easy. Why didn't she just admit that she was upset and let it all out...Because she's stubborn like you, a voice in his mind said. That's entirely different,

The red-haired sighed and watched the images move across the screen. Her eyes weren't directed towards the screen, but more towards the edge of the t.v.

Jake propped his arm up on the back of the couch, offering Natalie to come sit by him. Somehow he doubted that she would suddenly become social and jump at the chance to sit next to him. He didn't move his eyes from the screen.

Her eyes flicked for a moment at his arm, then back to the edge of the T.V. "This is just stupid,"she thought to herself, biting her lip, softly. She sighed again. "Stubborn fool."

Jake didn't move. He let the move pass as if he had just needed an arm rest. Jake exhaled, leaning back on the couch with his arm still outstretched 'casually'. He continued watching the movie, not paying attention really.

Natalie exhaled loudly. She hadn't noticed that she had been holding her breath for quite some time. She pushed herself from the armrest of the couch and leaned against Jake, placing her head softly on his shoulder. Natalie shifted herself comfortable and folded her arms across her chest. She continued staring at the screen, refusing to look up at Jake.

Jake felt himself smile contently as she finally gave in...a little. For some reason, the phrase, win the battle, lose the war, drifted through his mind and his grinned widened. He shifted his weight a little and put his arm around her shoulder, sinking deeper into the couch as he took another deep breath.

Natalie kept quiet and watched the movie flicker across the screen. She felt her cheeks burn red as he put his arm around her. Taking a hard gulp, she tried hard to focus on the movie. She failed...miserably.

"Are you sure you're OK?" Jake asked as commercials came on again. He looked at her, concerned. "You're not exactly laughing hysterically like normally..." he added, not sure if that would make her mad, or defensive, or annoyed, or what. But anything was better than awkward, stony silence, right?...maybe not.

"I'm fine,"Natalie replied, quickly. Too quickly. "Just... tired,"she added, lamely. "You're not laughing hysterically either,"she pointed out, still not looking at him. Her facial expressions darkened intensely as the commercial for the Quidditch World Cup flashed onto the screen.

Jake was about to answer when he heard his name on TV, listed as one of the promising Quidditch players for that year. Lily was also mentioned, along with a few others. He muted it and looked back at her. "Well...the elf isn't really that funny..." he muttered.

"You have a point,"she agreed and finally looked up at him. "I'm fine, honey,"Natalie mumbled softly. "I promise,"she added, reaching up to kiss him softly on the cheek. "Like I said, just tired."

Jake didn't seem convinced, but decided to let it go. "You want to watch the rest of this?" he asked, indicating the movie. With his arm that was around her he gently brushed a strand of hair out of her eyes and behind her ear.

Natalie felt her whole face turn red. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out. "N-No,"she finally stammered, shaking her head. "But I'd watch it if you'd want to. I don't really care."

"It's fine...it's not really a great movie," Jake said, reaching back behind her and pulling his arm out. After turning off the TV, Jake stood up and stretched for a second before walking around the couch and into the kitchen to grab a drink.

Natalie looked up at the clock. "Nine fifteen?"she thought, blinking several times. That was early. She shook her head and sighed, leaning against the armrest of the couch again. She stared out the window for a moment.

"Want anything?" Jake called casually. "I've got butterbeer, lemonade, water...or hot chocolate with mini marshmallows, whip cream, and sprinkles," Jake said with a small laugh, thinking, No contest. The sound of his pouring milk and chocolate into his own glass echoed from the kitchen into the living room.

"I'm fine!"replied Natalie, snapping out of her thought. "I'll get something later,"she continued, sitting upright and reaching over for a Quidditch catalog. She leaned back against the couch and flipped a page.

Jake sighed and finished pouring in the chocolate. He heated it up, added marshmallows, whip cream and sprinkles, and then headed back into the living room to sit next to Natalie. No you're not, he thought, biting his lip to restrain from saying it aloud.

Natalie peered up from the catalog. "Yes?"she asked, calmly, closing the catalog and putting it on the ground. "You look like you want to say something. Spill it."

"No no...the last time I did that you got all quiet and closed in," Jake said, immediately regretting it. He had only meant to say the 'no no' part, maybe with a 'nothing' added for emphasis, but sometimes the thoughts and words he had were connected instantly. "I mean..." Jake trailed off.

Natalie raised an eyebrow. "Uh-huh,"she nodded, bending down to pick up the catalog. She opened the Quidditch catalog again. "Suit yourself,"she mumbled, calmly flipping through the pages of the catalog again.
