A garden statue crashed into the side of a manor as the owner of the manor flipped out of her backbend and accidentally kicked it. “Bloody hell,” Elizabeth muttered as she waved her hand and the statue repaired itself. “If it is not one thing it is another.” She added to her mutterings. She quickly cracked the kinks out of her neck and back before getting ready for her daily training. She was in a pair of black sweat pants and a black sports bra. While it was a bit nippy out…with her element, she knew she would never get cold. With her outfit though, her birthmark was clearly visible, making it known that she was in fact a born fire elemental. While certain people could grow and study and somewhat control an element, Elizabeth was born with the gift. The birthmark actually looked like a tattoo, black in color, the Chinese symbol for fire, with flames surrounding it, hot to the touch.
Her platinum blonde hair was in a braid, and then rolled into a bun to keep it out of her face and off her neck, and her silver grey eyes sparkled with power, the pupils gaining the small flame that came whenever she was about to fully expand her powers. She did this every day to keep in shape, physically and power wise. With all the exercise, Elizabeth was in extremely good shape, and at the age of 26, she had caught the eyes of many of male, but none of them interested her as she was more focused on her powers right now. Quickly Elizabeth began firing balls of fire and molten lava at target she had summoned. Then, animals made out of fire erupted and she controlled them as they attacked and defended. She did not worry about nosey neighbors peeking in, as the only people who could see or come to her house were members of the G.R.I.M. She knew there were two other elementals in the area, an earth and a water. She had seen them on few occasions and talked to them in passing but had yet to actually meet them, though she did know that her services were offered for tutoring any elemental, no one had taken her up on the offer and since the rest of the G.R.I.M. did not make it an everyday affair to come to her house unless to inform her of the next meeting, she did not have to worry about hurting anyone. However, she did keep a steady ear and magical sense out incase anyone did decide to show up for some un-known reason today.

"Damn, this place is friggin' huge."
"Not Lady-Like words, are they?" "Shut it, Arkarian."
"Don't tell me to shut up! These are my-"
"My friend, Amanda's children. You hardly knew Amanda. I knew her. She was a Reaper, first class and head of the Cruiseline Deaths sector. You went to Muggle School with her."
"College, Adair."
"It's Daisy."
The two had been squabbling all day long. First over who to consult over who they would ask about the children. Then about how Daisy was such a flirt. Of course, Daisy had to bring in the Prophet and how Arkarian was biased when he kept his mother on the job. Which furtherly pissed him off. This would be a wonderful evening. They had no idea where Elizabeth was, but they rang the doorbell anyways. They were too busy talking to hear anything.

Elizabeth finished letting the power flow through her and looked over to see her house-elf in the doorway. She grabbed a shoulder towel and walked over, “Yes Lacy?” She asked and the house-elf looked up at her, “Miss, there are people at the door. Miss Daisy and Mr. Arkarian.” Lacy squeaked and Elizabeth nodded as she whipped the sweat from her brow. “Thank you Lacy. Please get some drinks ready. A full tray as I do not know what they want. Also a small appetizer tray would be lovely.” She said with a smile and Lacy nodded before bowing, “Of course mistress.” She said, her nose to the ground, before she popped off to do her mistress’s bidding.
Elizabeth finished toweling herself off and fixed her bun, which had fallen out into a braid, so she simply let the brain out so her hair went down her back in waves. She did not change though as this was her house and after this chat, she would probably go out and run, and finish her training for the day. She looked in the mirror right before her front door and nodded. She did not look all gross and sweaty, probably just nuts because it was chilly outside and it was obvious she had been training. She opened the door and gave a small smile. “Hello? May I ask what this is about?” She added. She did not mean to sound rude if she did, but she was not use to that much company. Only child to school where friends were allies, and then onto training in her elemental abilities.

Ark, acting like the good little businessman he was, began with a formal apology. "Pardon me for interrupting you, but my name is Arkarian Goodwill. Owner of the Daily Prophet and I'm here to ask about two children that have been put in my custody." "Unfit father, though. Two children are too much for him to handle. I don't blame them for running-" Daisy was cut off. "If you prefer to act like you are just so responsible, Miss 'I Fell into a Vat of Acid', please do so without insulting me." He returned to Elizabeth. "What I am trying to say is: I am looking for two children who are members of G.R.I.M. you may know them." "Two elemental children. Which is why G.R.I.M sent us to you. Apparently, you are the only elemental who comes on a regular basis." Daisy broke in and talked in her usual tone. "Two possibly Undead children." Arkarian informed her. "They aren't undead. If they were, they'd be full deads by now." Daisy rolled her eyes. "The G.R.I.M.'s rules forbid Undeads due to the little bitty mistake made by a past reaper." She turned to Elizabeth and mouthed "Evil children." "Besides," Daisy finished "They were Amanda's from before she died. She just got to keep them."

Elizabeth calmly listened to them talk and bicker, blinking occasionally but otherwise showing no outward signs that she was even paying attention. After they were done talking, she gave a small nod of the head and moved so that they could come in, “Please come into the sitting room where we can discus this. Besides, I believe Lacy has prepared a small snack once she realized we had guests.” She said calmly. “And I do realize who you both are. I read the paper and Daisy is very popular discussion among the reapers. And I know the children that you are talking about. Fiona the earth elemental who has had her powers bound and her brother Noah the water elemental. It is not that hard for an experienced elemental to feel other elementals and their power ability, so no I have not been stalking them. And the reason I am the only elemental who goes to G.R.I.M. is because aside from your two children I am the only elemental still alive in this area.” She said calmly before turning her back and walking towards her sitting room, the birthmark on her back visible, and larger as she had been using her power. The flames also looked like real flames as they danced around the mark. “And I also know a small bit about Amanda, but not enough to start a discussion.” She called back before entering the room where Lacy was preparing the food. Elizabeth gave a smile to the elf, “Thank you Lacy. That is all, but if I need something else, I will call. You may now go finish the rest of your chores.” She said and Lacy bowed before popping off.

Daisy stepped in before Arkarian did. He glared and stepped in, still acting the gentleman. "Thank you, Miss Malfoy." Daisy smiled and sat down. She wanted to pull at her dress' collar. It was the new standard for Fieldworkings to wear clothes fit for the landscape. Unfortunately for Daisy, she had been working in a slightly less warm area and her high collared dress, with it's long sleaves and length, was too warm. "Will you pardon me? " Daisy stood again and went for the door, she left and came back in. She was now wearing a sundress, a shade of yellow less than that of her own hair. "I can understand that you are not a stalker. I was told the extent of Elemental abilities when I got the children." He brought out a pamplet "The Power-Bound Elemental And You". "I was also told about both of them way before hand. They disappeared three days ago and have yet to come home. I'm worried not because of their powers, but because they are only children. I hope you can understand my worry for the two."

Elizabeth gave a small smile, “I’m sorry for the heat. As you can probably guess, I really do hate the cold so my house is normally body temperature or warmer. I can turn it down of course if it would make either of you more comfortable.” She said. Actually, it was not even the temperature of the house as she did not have air-conditioning, or heat. It was simply her powers expanding throughout the house to keep it her normal temperature, but of course, she could control it and lesson the heat. “Also, please help yourself to a drink or a snack. Lacy does not get the opportunity to cook for more then one person on many occasions so she likes to take advantage of these.” She added.
“Most likely they have left because they feel that you are not properly raising them. If I were them, my first stop would be the G.R.I.M. where they have places for anyone to stay. On late night meetings, I sometimes take up board there myself. In addition, while I do not doubt your ability to read Arkarian, I do doubt the fact that you know the full extent of their powers. No one aside from the elemental themselves knows the extent. While other elementals can sense if they are powerful or just dabblers in the art, some elementals can push past the boundaries that some set for them.” Elizabeth explained calmly, “So I can understand your worry for them, but there really is no reason to worry.” She said with a smile.

He began to feel a bit less calm. "I'm sure that you realise that these children are ten, twelve years old? I am relativly certain that they could not, and would not, defend themselves should they come across someone who could easily kill them." "You are severely underestimating them, Mr. Goodwill. You may be an owner of the biggest paper in Wizarding London, but you don't know crap about the Forces of Nature. We are quite capable of fighting any battle at any time against any mortal." She winked at Elizabeth and added "Except Chuck Norris."

“Well Mr. Goodwill, I’m sorry but you are entirely wrong. If your charge Fiona was let out to her full power, she could take out any full-grown wizard within a matter of minutes, as could your other charge Noah with a bit of training on both of their parts. And added to that fact they have a natural instinct in them to defend themselves with their powers so yes they would.” Elizabeth explained calmly taking a glass of red wine from the tray of many drinks.
“And your companion is correct in everything she says Mr. Goodwill, you should listen to her. All forces of nature have a natural ability at self defense and offense that surpasses that of any mortal, including wizards.” She said before taking a sip of her drink.

"It's not Noah I'm worring about. If both of them had their own powers bound, I would worry about them both. But Noah has always been just a dabbler, no need to get serious. But Fiona was, as I am told, powerful at six. I don't exactly know how bound she is, but it still worries me. And I would listen if Miss Acid Vat was mortal. But her type cannot die anyways!" "You are just as clueless as the day I met you, Lockhart." "It's Goodwill." "Until you call me Miss. Adair, or Daisy, I'll call you Goodwill."

“Ok, bickering like siblings needs to stop.” Elizabeth said calmly, “As for the children Arkarian, both of them will be very powerful and Fiona’s powers are very much restricted at the moment. And dead or alive or immortal, Daisy does know a hell of a lot more about this then I believe you will ever know so I do suggest you listen to her a bit more.” She said calmly. There was not hint of coldness or warmth in her voice, just straight, but somehow it was not monotonic. “Now, if you are going to try to find them I would suggest that Miss Daisy checks G.R.I.M. headquarters as most likely they will be there.” She said before taking a sip of her drink.

"But what if they will not, or yet, cannot leave?" Arkarian asked. This woman insterested him to a minor extent. "And if I am not there, who will take care of them?" "G.R.I.M has rather fine folks working in their Dormatory sector." Daisy replied, calmly. "It should not be any problem at all." "But what about the legal problems? I cannot give up custody of these children after Miranda-" "Amanda" Daisy corrected. "Amanda, left them to me."

“Yes, actually it is not hard to give up custody to these children. If they want it and you are okay with it, then it is simply signing a few papers to give them custody of themselves. Now, they can leave G.R.I.M. if they wish, but if they do not wish to leave then nobody there will force them to leave.” Elizabeth said calmly before taking another sip of her drink, which was slowly becoming hot in her hand. She sighed, put the drink down, and grabbed a new, cold glass. “And correct me if I’m wrong, but the eldest is at least 14 and the other is at least 11, so truthfully, they can take care of themselves. I personally have taken care of myself since the age of seven. My father was never around and my mother, well…no one really knows who she really is.” Elizabeth said calmly. There was a tiny hint of malice in her voice when she spoke of her mother, but it was only detectible to the best of ears.

"Actually, the oldest is twelve as of this moment. But he'll turn thirteen soon." Daisy corrected her, afraid that Arkarian would if she didn't. "I'm sorry about your parents, Ms. Malfoy." He could hardly relate except for the part about the father never being around. But, then again, Arkarian's father had an excuse. Being brain-dead was a good reason, if any.

“Thirteen is still old enough to take care of ones self, especially if that someone is an elemental.” Elizabeth said not fazed by the age mess up. She did not know these kids and had only guessed that by the way they acted, so it was actually a compliment. “I would suggest though that if you would like to talk to them, have a member of G.R.I.M. accompany you and talk to the children one on one and see what they want to do.” Elizabeth said calmly. “As for my parents, please do not be sorry because I’m not.” She said looking directly at Ark without blinking giving an almost scary look. Elizabeth never had the nurturing childhood and was always raised to be tough and never let anything shine through her outer exterior.

"And the fact that Noah's already graduated High School by way of correspondence helps too." Daisy added, ignoring Elizabeth's glare. For a Fire Elemental, she thought, Elizabeth is awefully cold. "And I'm positive Fiona is taking courses as we speak." Daisy added, not looking at anyone specifically, but at the beautiful interior of the Elemental's Home. Arkarian held Elizabeth's gaze, but eventually broke off and looked aty Daisy. 'God, she's so ADHD.' Ark thought, blowing off any other wisp of thought that may have clouded his mind beforehand. He simply could not, however, shake the feeling that the children were not safe and would not ever be safe. He didn't give a Shit if they could control earth or air or water. They were still children. And children are not that self reliant.

“Most likely, all children with special abilities feel the need to excel in their learning, whether they are magical or not.” Elizabeth said. She was not glaring; her look was simply stony, wall like even. Her face would never give any emotion away. “As for Noah’s graduation, that is just an added bonus for him. He will now believe that he can take care of Fiona and himself, by himself, and most likely he will be able to.” She said. She had a total opposite belief then Ark had. She knew for a fact that they would be able to take care of themselves, and if they had left, they left for a reason and wouldn’t want to come back, no matter how much anyone pleaded or asked.

"I'm also worried for Fiona's psychological well-being. She isn't the most stable of girls and I'm afraid that this will hurt her even more than necessary." Arkarian thought about Amanda and the court orders that had come when Ark had signed the custody papers. "She used to get into troube in school, a lot of trouble. And so I'm afraid about that as well." He hated to admit, in a way, that he was scared fort he children. But, then again, he did act like a lady once a day to answer questions in his advice collum. Daisy looked at him as if he were a child himself. "I'm sure she'll be fine. She told me herself that she's fine." "She wouldn't tell anyone anything of the sort. If she did, she was lying. She's so damned introverted at times." Arkarian replied.

“How often was Amanda home? Do you think that maybe she acted up because she wanted attention? Or maybe she acted up because she knew that she had more power then she was letting out and it frustrated her?” Elizabeth questioned, “I do not mean to insult you Mr. Lockhart, nor undermine what ever you believe concerning these children, but from what I have heard and learned by what you and Miss Adair have said those are the conclusions I have come up with. As for the mental thing, with power suppressants, it isn’t that she is mentally unstable, it is that she feels this power in her, but doesn’t know how to unlock it and unless it is let out within a few years, then yes she will begin to go insane.”

"Amanda died the first time when Fiona was six. So, from what I've heard, the girl has gone delusional and believed that she killed Amanda. I mean, gosh. If I were Fiona, I'd make the same deduction. Especially since that was the year her powers were bound." Daisy mused. "Off topic, Adair." Arkarian whispered. "Lockhart." Daisy giggled at what Elizabeth had called him. Just as everyone else who heard it did. "As for the insane thing." Daisy said, trying to sound sensitive but failed. "Yeah, that sucks."

Elizabeth sighed, “How did Amanda die, and what do you mean by the first time. And no, this is not off topic, but entirely on, as it may be the only way to figure out what Fiona needs and what she will do. As for the going insane…she simply needs to have her powers unbound, but that can not happen until she takes control of them, instead of letting them control her.” Elizabeth explained.

"Amanda died the first time from falling off a cliff while her and the children were on a cruise. It was on Noah's eighth birthday and she just fell." Daisy explained. "Fortunately for her kids, she became a grim reaper. She died again three months back. I think." Daisy said. "And so, after that, they bound her powers. It was originally planned, to avoid hardship through the elementary school years. But then she ended up not going to elementary school."

|
Post by Kat-la on Nov 24, 2007 23:37:54 GMT -5
Elizabeth nodded, “Ok, I can understand that…but she can’t continue to have her powers bound. After the fact that she didn’t go to elementary her powers should have been unbound…now if they are unbound at one time the power will control her instead of the other way around because her powers have been allowed to grow on their own and not with her. If you are lucky…when her powers are unbound the least she could do will be to age a few years, because her powers will be far beyond her and most likely knock her out for awhile while they try to take over her mind.” Elizabeth said seriously.

"Can you please explain more?" Daisy said, leaning on her hands. "I'm semi to mildly confused." Ark put a hand to his face. "So you are meaning to tell me that Fiona needs to become unbound, and that she needs to work a bit more with it?" Ark, as well, was confused.

“You are correct Arkarian…all elementals feel their power. With her powers bound, she feels her power but also feels that it is not as strong as it should be. Subconsciously she is driving herself insane with the power that is continuing to build.” Elizabeth explained, “And yes her powers need to be un-bound…but when and if they are…you will need about 35 people holding her down as her body will explode with the power that has been building up…it’s like plugging a hose and then suddenly letting it go when it is about to pop.” Elizabeth added.
