“Ok Gwen, we are here to get some owl treats for Midnight.” Chris said before entering the stop. They were standing outside the door of the Magical Menagerie and Gwen was giving Chris the look of ‘I-know…you’ve-said-it-twenty-times’ and Chris just chuckled. “Ok, let’s go.” He said opening the door and letting in a small gust of wind into the shop. Gwen shook her head and took off her hat, letting her dark red hair fall down. She loved her red hair; she had inherited it from her grandmother and her great-grandmother on her father’s side. She also had her fathers and mothers blue eyes, though hers are a shade lighter then her fathers, the color of her mothers eyes. She was wearing a pair of jeans with a pink jewel butterfly on the back left pocket, with black trainers and a long sleeve white top that read “I have been good little witch this year” under a brown jacket. It was getting down right cold in England now, but it had yet to snow. Chris on the other hand had also taken his hat off, showing his short, dark brown hair and his own bright blue eyes. He wore a simple pair of levi jeans and brown boots, and a long sleeve black sweater with a brown leather jacket over top. Chris took Gwen’s hand and they walked up the isles looking for treats before Gwen was able to break free of her fathers hand and run over to the kitten display. Chris sighed, grabbed the owl treats and ran over also…not quiet looking where he was going….

Jude was walked into the store behind the two. She wanted to get a pet. Things in her apartment were getting a little lonely without McCartney. She walked over to the cages, taking off her sunglasses. She left her crocheted had on her head, it was a floppy beret, so it looked good with her navy wool coat. Jude had on a pair of dark denim skinny jeans and a ice blue long sleved polo shirt. She smiled to the little red head and the man. There were so many animals, how did you choose. Jude's long brown hair was down, and tossed over her shoulder. In her opinion, the man was kind of cute.

“Gweneth Daisy Browning…put the kitten down now.” Chris said sternly as his daughter picked up a tiger calico mix and Gwen looked up at him innocently, “But Daddy.” She said giving him the lower lip action that usually reduced him to a pile of nothing. Gwen knew she had her father wrapped around her finger and though she normally didn’t abuse the power there where a few times when she did. “But daddy,” She added again, “The kitten needs a home…she’s left here all alone…would you want her to be without a family on Christmas?” She asked looking up at him, pretending to blink back tears. Chris sighed and looked at her, “You abuse your power.” He said simply. “This isn’t fair…I have no one to back me up against you.” He added looking around. He sighed, “You stay here…I’ll go get some toys.” He muttered and Gwen beamed, “YAY! Thank you, thank you, thank you daddy!” She said jumping up and down with the kitten…who…while being happy that she was being held…wasn’t quiet so happy about the jumping. Chris sighed again and shook his head trying to figure out where kitten toys and food would be. He hadn’t been here many times, normally just buying owl treats via letter…but they had Christmas shopping to do anyways. Chris looked around and spotted Jude and walked over, “I know you don’t work here…but do you have any idea where I could find kitten toys and/or food?” He asked with a smile.

Jude smiled. The little girl and the kitten was melting her heart. It reminded her of when she had McCartney. "Oh, um" She said. Turning to Chris. "I think over there" she said, pointing to the isle. "Don't mind me asking, but are you the announcer for Puddlemore United??" she asked. "I'm a really big quiddich fan, sorry" she blushed. Jude looked to the side and wrinkled her nose. She was kind of ashamed for asking. Jude tried to stop blushing.
A ferret, white, with a black spot around its eye chirped behind Jude. She smiled, looked to him briefly.

“Thanks.” He said with a smile, “And yes I am. Do you attend many of the games?” He asked as Gwen walked over with a leash and collar already for the kitten. “Daddy….she needs a friend.” Gwen said simply and Chris looked down and shook his head, “No…and the lip won’t work. Unless you can pay for the second one?” He asked raising and eye brow and she gave a small pout but shrugged, resigned to the fact that her powers over her father didn’t go that far…yet at least. “Fine…her name will be patches!” Gwen announced and then looked at Jude, “Who is she?” Gwen asked and Chris was about to answer and then realized he did not know her name, “You know…I don’t know. I’m sorry, my name is Chris Browning and this is my daughter Gwen.” He said looking at Gwen who looked back at Chris, “Shame daddy shame…talking to a stranger.” Gwen said simply shaking her head.

Jude smiled. "I go to every game I get a chance to go to" she smiled. "Your so lucky, you get to go to all of the games," She smiled, once more. Jude surpressed a small giggle, when Gwen intercepted. "Oh, no problem, I'm Jude" she exteneded her hand to Chris. "Nice to meet you" Chris was so lucky, a beautiful daughter, an amazing job, he probably had a gorgeous wife too. "Your daughter is georgous" she said, looking to Gwen.

Chris laughed, “Well if I didn’t go to all the games, I’d not only get fired but I’d probably be yelled at by 3 very close friends of mine.” He said with a smile…though the thought about being on the wrong end of the wands of Kat, Lily and James was nothing to smile about. “And it is nice to meet you also. I don’t meet many people outside of the mothers of the other children that Gwen dances and acts with and then the people I work with of course.” He said and Gwen shook her head from where she was. “No, you met grandpa who visited a week ago and Aunt Daisy who you met at the restaurant.” Gwen said with a smirk and Chris chuckled, though he did not explain. It really was not his place to say that his sister was a grim reaper, his father came back from the dead, and his mother was close to having an emotional break down because of it. “Very true.” He added at Gwen’s well? Look. “Thank you.” Gwen said to Jude’s comment and Chris laughed, “Gorgeous and modest…can’t you tell? And what do you do?” He asked.

Jude gave a small laugh. "Your so lucky to have her.Im guessing she keeps you focused " Jude grinned. "I'm actually a nanny..." Jude trailed off, She looked to the ground again, and blushed. She wrinkled her nose. She wasn't ashamed of her profession, but it didn't compare to being a quiddich announcer. That completely blew away being a nanny...Jude pushed her hair back, She thought that Chris was adorable, and really nice. She wasn't going to like a married guy....

“Keeps me on my toes is probably the better expression.” Chris said with a laugh and Gwen gave a small scowl. “But I love it…and since she’s into quidditch it’s easy to take her to work when I need to and with plays in the afternoon or evening, the games are over or I have one of her Aunts take her and I show up later.” He added and Gwen nodded, still hugging her new kitten Patches. “And being a Nanny isn’t anything to be ashamed about. When Gwen was younger she had one, but she’s a little to busy to have one right now.” He said.

"My dad always used to bring me to Quiddich games, and things like that, so I know where your coming from" she smiled. She wasn't really ashamed about being a nanny, but, it was just no comparison with being into the Quiddich department. She pushed her hair back."Yeah, I know how it is, " Jude started. "I'm The Malfoy's nanny" she nodded, awaiting a trecherous response. Jude wanted to ask him if he wanted to get a coffee sometime. She wanted to see him again, but she knew not to. It was to slippery. If she asked, she might get burned. Jude tried not to make it seem obvious that she was interested. "Well, uh," she sighed.

Chris smiled, “My mom did the same with me…I mean, once my dad died it was just my sister, myself and my mom, and the thing that connected us all was quidditch. It’s the same way with Gwen and myself. I’ve never been a single father to a girl before and the fact that she’s into quidditch just helps me out.” He said with a chuckle as Gwen wondered back. She had walked away and grabbed a basket and filled it with kitten food, toys, leashes, harnesses, catnip, cat-treats, kitten shampoo and a whole bunch of other stuff…half of which she had 2-3 of. “Really? Cole Malfoy? Well….just pray you never run into Elizabeth Malfoy and you should be fine.” He said and Gwen gave a small involuntary shudder at Elizabeth’s name. She had met Elizabeth once in a store and the mere presence scared the bajeebies out of her. “Ready daddy!” Gwen said and Chris looked down at her basket and his eyes grew wide, “Honey…we are getting one kitten…not a farm of kittens.” He stated.

Jude nodded, staying interested. She understood where he was coming from and everything. "I've heard alot about her" Jude nodded. She crossed and uncrossed her legs, even though she was standing, It was a nervous habit. She smiled, bending down to Gwens level. Smiling, and giving a small laugh. "I think you only need.... this many things" she said, taking out all the doubles and triples. She stood back up, and pushed her hair back. Jude started to turn a little pink. "Maybe we can go out for coffee sometime?" she asked, nervously.

Gwen scowled as the stuff was taken out of the basket and scrunched up her nose in irritation but did not say anything. When Jude asked her father out though, her eyes grew wide and then tight with anger. Who was this lady and who did she think she was asking out her daddy? They didn’t need anyone else…she already had a mommy…all she needed now was her daddy and her friends….not this lady who was trying to change that.
Chris on the other hand was worried about something else. Jude was cute, he did admit…but Ashley had only been gone for a few years and he really didn’t feel like getting back out on the dating scene. Kat, Lily and James had all tried to put him back out there but the only one who seemed to understand was his mother who also hadn’t dated since her husbands death. “Oh…wow…Uh…yeah….but only if we can go as friends. I’m sorry Jude…but I don’t think I’m ready for anything else right now.” He admitted gently.

"Yeah, totally, i wouldn't want to make you feel uncomfortable" she nodded. She pushed her hair back. "I actually feel kinda bad for puting you in the situation now, " she said, trying hard not to blush, but her cheeks were crimson. "Heres my card" she reached into her bag, and pulled out a cream colored card.
JUDE FOSTER child care home:1631-867-5309 cell:1631-991-1660
Jude nodded. "Well, I guess i'll see you later" she said, trying to hide her embarrassment. She Backed away. "Bye Chris, Bye Gwen, nice meeting you." she turned off, and went back to looking at the animals.

Chris nodded, and gave a warm smile as she walked away, tucking her card away in his wallet and making a mental note to call her and schedule that coffee on a later date. He looked down to see Gwen scowling at Jude’s retreating form and realized he had made the right choice. Even if he had been ready to date again, Gwen did not seem ready for someone else to enter his or her lives. “Come on sweetie, let’s get your stuff.” He said and Gwen nodded as they walked up to the counter. They pair for the stuff and arranged for it to be owled to their house, and Gwen took her kitten on a harness and leash and they left the store. Chris took one look back at Jude, smiled and then they left.
