The young man walked into Clear Flahtery's shop at around nine in the morning. He was mildly handsome, blonde with blue eyes. He wasn't that big for his age, a bit smaller than the average man. But Clear did not judge. He was accompanied by a small, blonde woman with simular features. "Hello sir." Clear watched as the girl whispered something in the man's ear and left. She also watched as the man affectionately waved after her as she turned to dust. He straightened out and explained. "That was my daughter." He began to poke through the shelves and finally came to the counter carring a huge bucket of E.E.G. She began to ring it up until the man finally looked up at Clear. "Yes, sir?" She felt odd under the person's gaze. It felt familiar. "Do you need my ID for this purchase?" He began to grab for an italian leather wallet. "Well, you re over twenty-one. This gum isn't alcoholic or anything." Clear was the perfect business girl. "But, if you buy more than three, I'd need it." He made a grab for two more buckets and put them on the counter. He removed a bunch of gold coins and shuffled them out. He handed her his ID and waited for her reaction. She took a quick glance. Then another. Then looked up and said "Sir, this is impossible. This man is dead. Has been dead for many years. I should know." Then he looked straight at her, and said, in the plainest voice that Alexander Chance Browning, father to Christopher and Daisy Adair Browning, could've used, "Are you Still Lint?" She couldn't blink, couldn't speak. She only reached for the phone and whispered: "Operator? Get me Kathleen Marvin."

While Clear was freaking out and calling, her Kathleen Marvin was out in her garden working on it. Her granddaughter was having a play-date at her father’s house as he had the day off so this was a day to finally work on it. Now, don’t miss-judge her, she LOVED her granddaughter with all of her heart. Gwen was a sparkle in her eye and the only thing that had kept Chris going after his wife’s death. Kathleen sighed as she leaned back on her ankles and looked at the lilies she had just planted. White, purple and pink, a mixture of colors that she loved. She reached up and brushed the sweat out of her face. Her hair was done in a braid to keep it out of her face and she had on a pair of working over alls and an old crop top that would expose her stomach if the overalls weren’t covering it. However, she didn’t care how she looked when working in her garden, it was her house and no one was there.
Kathleen looked up when the phone rang and took off her gardening gloves and put down her small shovel. She let her forest eyes dance over to her flowers one last time before heading inside and picking up the phone. “Kathleen Marvin speaking, how may I help you?” She asked calmly. The reason, you might be wondering is why she had the last name of Marvin when her son had the last name of Browning. Well, her loving husband Alex had died many years ago and once Chris had started school, it just became to hard on her emotionally to deal with the last name of Browning so she had gone back to her surname of Marvin. She had not dated since Alex’s death, it was just to hard.

Clear was stuttering as she spoke "Kat, this is Clear Flahtery, I mean, Rivers, from Hogwarts. I know you don't like me after Alex's funeral. But what I am about to say will make you freak, laugh, cry, and probably slam the phone thinking this is a joke. But this is not a joke and it's cruel of him not to come to you first." She herself found herself crying. "But it is not, and I repeat, is not a joke." Alex was sitting there, counting the pieces of gum in his three buckets. He was up to 213. That was a hell-of a lot of Exploding gum. Who would he give it to?

“Clear, it’s ok…and who is he? And no, I don’t not like you.” Kathleen said calmly as she put the phone on her shoulder so she could use her hands to let her braid out as she probably wouldn’t be going back out into the garden again soon. “Dear, why are you crying? Nothing can be too bad, compared to everything else that has happened in life at least.” She said with a small chuckle as she looked around her house. Her eyes landed on the fire mantel and she zoned out for a mini-second as she looked at the pictures. Pictures of her first year with her older brother and older cousin. Friends from America and then her and Alex during their seventh and final year at Hogwarts. Her wedding day pictures and then pictures of Chris and Dani through the years…until Dani died. Then Chris and his wedding and then her granddaughter Gwen. She zoned back in though and was positive Clear had yet to say anything in response.

"Kat, trust me. This is not exactly bad." She was shaking now. "What's wrong?" Alex mouthed to her. "Is she there?"
"Why didn't you go to her first!" Clear scram. "Because I obviously did not know where she lived!" Alex spoke in responce. "Kathleen Marvin. I'll just flat out say it." Clear was nervous, frightened, confused and many other emotions. But she was going to say this in the plainest tone she had ever used. "Don't just flat-out tell her!" Alex warned. "I remember when I figured out about a missing banknote and she nearly fainted!" His tone was just within audibility for the phone to hear.

“Clear what’s wrong? If you have a customer then you can call me back. I mean, I do have company coming over in about an hour but I’m sure Shawn won’t mind me coming to the phone, he’s a really great guy.” Kathleen said with a smile. Shawn was her best friend in the world. They had met when she had first moved to America during her second year of schooling and he had become her fast friend. There was nothing romantic there, just a brother sister kind of relationship as he was a wizard also. However, he was in town right now so of course Kathleen had told him that he had to visit. “That voice sounds oddly familiar, is there someone there from our Hogwarts days?” She asked trying to place the voice.

Clear gripped the phone. "This is not the average customer. My normal ones do not normally appear hand-in-hand with gorgeous supposidly dead blondes. My normal customers do not refer to me as lint. And my normal customers are not this man. So here it is. If you count Alexander Browning as a person from Hogwarts, then Yes. It is." "Idiot." Alex grabbed his temples and wished he could have that cool 'smoke' thing so that he could go to her without even knowing her location. He could apparate, of course, just not smoke himself there. Nor could he just go to some random place without knowing the exact location. It just was not logical. "If she faints, it's your fault." Alex said simply.

Kathleen froze for a second but shook herself out of it, “Clear, dear, Alex has been dead for many years, you know this, you went to his funeral. Now, you might be over working yourself or something but imagining Alex to be there with you is not healthy. Now, I am a healer and I can prescribe some vacation time for you to relax but that is about it. If this is not overworking yourself I do not know why you would be saying something like this when we both know he is dead. I buried his body in the ground. His son and daughter were there. Then I had to bury our daughter next to him and again Chris was there. There were other people there who saw them both dead, but my daughter and my husband are dead and have been.” Kathleen said simply.

"Kathleen, you know me. I do not become delirious." She spoke with conviction that had sprung from having her facts rejected. "In fact, I've seen only the truth for many years. It's what helps most in the Prank business. Daisy Adair Browning came in with Alexander and then, Daisy disappeared in a puff of dust. The sort that Death Eater's used to use. She was wearing a yellow sun dress and had a small scar on her cheek. A chemical burn of sorts. It was very, very small and I could'nt have noticed it if I hadn't tried to identify her." She swung her phone-free hand over the counter and knocked over a china pot. "Alexander? Can you get that for me? There's a broom in the closet. Thank you, dear." She hardly noticed, in her chatter, that Alex was not something to be seen as ordinary. He grabbed the broom and swept up the broken ceramic, or was it glass? Probably ceramic. "Alexander Chance Browning is in this very room, sweepin g up my china dish."

“And I’m telling you that I deal with death and delirium on a day to day basis and saying that people who are suppose to be dead aren’t is a sure sign of it.” Kathleen said calmly with her own tone of demonstrability. “Now, if you want me to come down there and prove to you that you are seeing something in your brain you will have to wait 15 minutes and I will bring Shawn with me as afterward we will catch up as I haven’t seen him in about 5 years and I’d really like to catch up with my best friend and I’ sure Chris would want to see him.” She said with a tone of equal conviction. “And you can tell your fantasy Alex that I will be there soon if that is what you want. Otherwise there is nothing more I can do to help you and I have wilting rose and lilies that need attention.”

"Okay, I'm getting tired of this." Alex motioned for the phone. "No! I'll convince her myself!" Clear blocked his path to the phone. She spoke into the phone again "I am not delirious. Alexander Browning just got done sweeping up my china and is now coming twords the phone." "I don't think so." He accio-ed the phone over, an act that was familliar, yet unfamilliar at the same time. He put a hand over the receaver and said "Now, please ring up my gum." He smiled and began to speak into the phone. "Kathleen?"

Unfortunately, right after Clear had said her speech, the doorbell had rung and Kathleen had said a quick be right back before putting the phone down so she had not heard Alex on the phone. She opened her door and Shawn stood there with a bottle of white wine and a smile, “How is my best friend?” He asked hugging her and Kathleen forced a smile. “About to have an emotional break-down.” She said with a light chuckle, “Put that in the fridge and then we are heading down to Diagon Alley.” She explained and Shawn nodded as she walked back over to the phone. “Clear, Shawn just got here and I’ll just come over. See you soon.” She said before hanging up not knowing that she was in fact talking to her husband who had no idea about her friendship with Shawn, as Shawn had never come up in discussion during their marriage as he had lived in America and they had communicated simply through letters. “Ready?” Shawn asked and Kathleen nodded, “Let me change real quick.” She said as she smirked and took out her wand, tapped her head and then grabbed her back. She was now in a pair of jeans and a form fitting long sleeve black shirt with a pair of black sandals. “Let’s go.” Kathleen said and with two tiny pops, they disappeared only to re-appear outside Clear’s shop. “A joke shop? Seriously Kathleen, can’t wait ten minutes to prank me or something?” Shawn asked and Kathleen laughed as she opened the door and walked in Shawn right behind her. Kathleen looked up though and froze at the sight in front of her.
//I know I know…fast paced but having them talk over the phone would NEVER convince her…sooo I wanted to just get her to freak out.//

By the time that Kat had finally come, Alex still hadn't swept up all the china. He had handed the phone back the moment she hung up and was bent down to put it in the dust pan. Clear was holding the phone, still awestruct at how things had worked out. But the moment Kat and Shawn came in, her head turned directly to them. She looked at Alex, then at Kat and smiled wide. "Told you so." She said, tilting her head down a bit. Alex looked up as well, he did not freeze. He simply stood up slowly, dusted his hands off and raised an eyebrow. "Kathleen, who is he?"

“This can’t be real…you are suppose to be dead!” Kathleen said her voice rising just slightly. “I buried you in the ground, and then I had to bury our daughter right next to you. I had to raise our children by myself, because you were dead. I had to work through this, by myself, because you weren’t there…and now you are standing there like none of this has happened.” She cried, her voice laced with sadness and a feeling that this could not be happening. She ran a hand through her wavy locks and shook her head, “Please tell me this isn’t happening. And if you somehow faked your death and left me here…I do not know why you came back.” She said slightly angry. There was just a mess of emotions flowing through her that she did not even hear Alex’s question. Shawn did though and he smiled and held out his hand, “Shawn Edwards. I’m a friend of Kathleen’s from America.” He said with another smile.

Alex sighed, he shook his hair and some dirt plopped itself on the floor. "Hello Shawn. I'm Alex. " He did a quick smile for greeting purposes, and then decided to ignore the fact that Kat had come with a decent-looking man. "Kathleen," He took a deep breath. "I know I've been gone a couple of years, and I acknowlage that I am supposted to be dead. But I cannot just let you stand there saying that I would leave you and the kids." He decided not to give the tiny bit of info that Daisy was, in fact, alive. "Because you should know as well as anyone that I could not fake my death. It's only the stuff that crime dramas are made of. " He didn't want to seem too dorkfus-y by acting all sappy until Kathleen was calmed down. Alexander also did not want to correct Kat by saying that it would be nearly impossible to bury remains of someone who fell into acid. Unless she spread the ashes. . .

//Which she did...she's would find something to bury!//
Shawn just pulled his hand back and ran it through his hair, feeling a bit silly for just leaving it out there but he shrugged it off. He knew a tiny bit about this, but nothing to the extent that was happening, but he did figure that Kathleen and he would not be catching up on old times over a fun lunch.
“Then what the BLOODY HELL is going on?” Kathleen cried out angry at the fact that this made no sense at all. There were tears in her eyes, not out of sadness but frustration and her entire body showed she was frustrated. “You are suppose to be dead…but you aren’t…” She said trying to figure it out, “And how long has this been going on? How long have you been alive and hidden from us all?” She asked trying to piece everything together…but it wasn’t working.

Alex seemed to contemplate the questions for a moment. Thinking over the proper way to answer them and tapping his chin. "I believe I've been alive five days. " He replied, finally deciding how to put it. He would simply tell the truth. "I was brought back to life as a favor to a friend." He nodded, certain that he had worded it correctly. Meanwhile, Clear was doing the 'I'm right and you were wrong' dance. "Da, da, da, da, da, DA!" she whispered, not wanting to draw that much attention.

“You can not bring the dead back to life…I know this…I have studied medicine all my life and there is no spell or way to bring someone back from the dead. You are dead, and you can be a ghost, or an angel up in whatever is up there but that is it.” Kathleen said trying not to have a full out freak out attack. She was smart, and a healer and there was no way what he was saying could be true. “You just…It’s….A dead person can not suddenly be alive again, trust me, I’ve tried on a daily basis.” Kathleen said referencing the fact that she worked in the emergency part of St. Mungo’s and people died every day in front of her.

He put a hand to his temple. "Kathleen, you'd think that after being a Healer, you'd know that anything is possible." He held back a laugh as he added " Kat. Being a healer does not automatically let you decide the rules of life and death. In fact, it's just not fair to call me something I am not." He picked up a piece of gum and began the chew. "Ghosts cannot, to my knowlage, eat." He said between bubbles. "Nor can they blow bubbles." Clear was still doing her dances. "And besides, if I were an Angel, wouldn't I have wings? Or a halo? Or some sort of etheral glow?" Alex added.

“No, being a healer has just enforced the fact that while anything can kill you; nothing can bring a person back to life. I deal with people who come in with pole through their head because they got into a fight with a lumberjack and other things like that. In addition, without excessive surgery and proper training people do die, and when they die they do not come back. THAT is what I have learned at a healer.” Kathleen said with a slight snap to her tone, “And I am not MAKING the rules, I’m telling you what they are. You die and you are dead, you are not supposed to be able to come back. Dead is DEAD.” She said, “Nor do I know if ghosts can blow bubbles, but next time I see one I’ll ask.” She said sarcastically. “As for the angel comment, I do not know as I’ve never met an angel.” She spat. She would not take to ANYONE including Alex, try to make her look like a fool or in the wrong when it came to anything to do with medicine.

And though Alexander loved his Kathleen, the suggestion that he would leave her infuriated him. Thus, he said some things he would not normally say. "Well, what I've learned as a Dead person is that no one, even a Healer, has the right to recite the rules to someone who has clearly broken them." He did not feel bad not giving credit to Daisy. "And that is clearly obvious. If you'd like, I'll bring in a few of my ghost friends, and even an Angel or two." That was a lie, he only knew one 'Angel' and she wasn't even an Angel. Hell, she wasn't even dead. Her name was Kathleen. (Sorry, that sappy line came curtisy of caffine.)

“Except for the fact that you are now admitting the fact that those are in fact the rules. A person who is dead is SUPOSE to stay dead and you just admitted who ever brought you back did in fact break them. As previously you were saying that I was trying to make the rules when in fact I was reciting them as they are suppose to be and it seems as if you finally realize that I do know what I am talking about as you clearly stated that you BROKE the rules and that what I stated were in fact the rules.” Kathleen stated quickly without a breath before she stopped and took a deep breath of air, as she was turning slightly blue ignoring his second comment.

"I did not break them. A Grim Reaper broke them. " Alex shook his head slightly and brushed the dirt out of his hair. "And that had to be ten times more complicated of a sentence than of me saying that I am alive." He tried to smile. But then stopped himself once he remembered the main problem. Once Kathleen accepted that Alex was alive (If ever) then she'd go to Clear's original statement. That Daisy was alive too. "How the Cornelius Fudgemonkeys can I convince you that I am, in fact, alive?" He mused, not exactly a question to her more than a question to life itself.

“I’ve figured out you are in fact alive, but there is the simple fact that you are not SUPOSE to be.” Kathleen said running a hand through her hair in frustration again. “Now, who is the blonde you walked in with before, who also is suppose to be dead?” She asked looking at him. Shawn was just a friend but she really hoped the blonde was someone else then she thought it was. With the talk of grim reapers and everything though her mind was spinning and she was pretty sure that she was right in the fact that her daughter was also alive…at least in a sense of some kind.

"You get off topic so fast, don't you Kathleen?" Alex looked over to Clear, his eyes screaming 'Help!'. He closed his eyes quickly, still not used to using them. At least the tear ducts were working, when he had first awoken, they hadn't. That had been bad. But compaired to having to stand in front of his wife and admit that her entire life from Daisy's death to now was somehow fake, was even worse. "I think what I meant was, there was a lady in here with him." Alex may've had something against lying to Kat. But Clear did not, and would never feel bad about it. Because, for some reason, when it came to Alex, she had no conscience. "But she was definitly blonde. She had blue eyes and a way of moving that seemed awkward. She was carring around a huge book bag. She was with a young woman that was a few years younger. She had black hair and the darkest eyes someone could have at that age. She was holding a cell phone, but was furious that it wasn't getting reception in this part of London. They were obviously out of place and they seemed to hate Aklex. So they pushed him inside and then, I saw him. The girls disappeared into a puff of golden colored smoke." These girls had never been, nor would they ever be, real. Based on reality, sure, but real? No.
